SHOW JUMPING

When

Show Jumping events at Northside Riding Club are generally run on the second Sunday of every month, starting in February and finishing with the Championships in November – either unofficial competitions or training days.

Format

We run two rings, with classes in Ring 1 ranging in height from 85cm to 1.20m and for Ring 2, from 45cm to 85cm

Most classes are run as Article 235.1 (formerly known as AM7) where competitors who go clear and under time stay in the ring and complete the jump off immediately.  Other formats are often used at Championships.

At our Championships for the past few years we have hosted the official event - Jumping NSW Amateur Rider of the Year Series.

How to Enter

Entries for SJ events are through Global Entries Online (www.globalentriesonline.com.au).

Entries usually open the Wednesday week before before the event date and close on the Thursday before the event.  Classes can fill up quickly so if you’re interested in coming, don’t wait too long to put in your entry!  Payment is via Global Entries Online at time of entering.

A late entry fee ($10), if accepted, is charged for entries after close.  Change of entry, if accepted, can incur $10 fee per horse/rider combination.  Incorrect entries will not be eligible for any refund.

If you are not a NRC member you will have to sign a waiver on the day and pay $20 non NRC member/Single Event Membership Fee for insurance purposes on Global Entries Online when entering.

If you have entered and need to scratch from an event, a refund will be given if Committee is advised before close of entries; if after close of entries, a refund will be given if vet and/or Doctor certificate provided to Committee less $5 admin fee; if after close of entries with neither vet or Dr certificate no refund will be granted.

All information is on Global Entries Online when entering so please ready carefully.

Results

We endeavour to get post results after the event asap via Global Entries Online and on Facebook.

Helping

Volunteers are needed to help run the show jumping competitions; without volunteers help they just would not happen! We need people to -

On the Saturday;

Set up the courses; 2 cars required to tow the trailers to get the equipment out

On the Sunday -

Pencilling for the judges,

Marshalling the riders,

Packing up the jumps at end of the day; 2 cars needed to tow the trailers to pack up

Organising lunch/morning tea to be taken to the judges/volunteers

Qualified First Aid person/s to be available for part of the day

Picking up poles throughout the day

Setting up on the Saturday is a great way to see the courses before you come and ride on the Sunday, and the course designer can answer questions you might have about the course. If you are riding on the Sunday maybe you could help for an hour or so before or after your classes; every bit helps and the more people we have the easier it is for everyone.  It is a NRC membership requirement that each member helps for a minimum of 4 hours each calendar year to be eligible for any awards at the end of the year.

Volunteers receive NRC vouchers that can be used for NRC competitions or merchandise.

On the Day

The first class in each ring starts at 9am and the courses are open for walking from 8.30am – except for our Championships which start earlier.  When you arrive at the grounds, once your horse is unloaded and settled, come to the clubhouse to register your attendance and collect your wristband.

Dress Code

For the regular competitions (February to October), the dress code is light-coloured jodhpurs, collared shirt, boots (long or short with/without chaps) and EA approved helmet. The NRC t-shirts are ideal for the warmer months – these are available to purchase from the clubhouse at any competition.

For the Championships in November, we ask riders for formal dress – jacket, shirt, tie or stock.  If weather is too warm, summer uniform will be permitted, i.e. formal shirt with tie/ratcatcher. Pony Club uniform is also allowed for the Championships.
